Quartermaster relieving Watch while the ship was at the New York Navy Yard, probably circa spring 1890. Photographed by E.H. Hart, New York City. Note the Sailors' pea coats, watch caps and sea boots, telescope carried by the man at right and binoculars held by his companion, signal flags and ship's rigging.
