- Inscription indicates cup was part of the Perpetual Challenge Cup in San Pedro Harbor, California and was given on April 24, 1908 to Rear Admiral Robley D. Evans. The inscription furthermore reads: "For the Winners of the Ten Oar Tender Cutter Races." Winners indicated include the USS Louisiana (1908), USS Mississippi (1910), and the USS San Francisco and USS Kansas (both 1912).
