- Two pages from Harper's Weekly June, 1861. A large illustration depicts 11 different vessels on the water at Brooklyn Navy Yard. These vessels include the U.S.S. Montgomery, the U.S.S. Vandalia, the U.S.S. Brandywine, the U.S.S. North Carolina, the U.S.S. Potomac, the U.S.S. Savannah, the U.S.S. R.R. Cuyler, the U.S.S. Mt. Vernon, the U.S.S. Roanoke, the U.S.S. Resolute, and the U.S.S. Wabash. Not all of these ships were built at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, but they were all in service for the Union Army during the Civil War.
