- This issue of the Shipworker is dated September 29, 1953 and is listed as issue Vol. XII No. 35. However, in the official run of the Shipworker there is no issue from that date. The actual issue Vol. XII No. 35 is dated September 11, 1953. These issues are identical with the exception that the headline and blurb about Lou Kaplan's birthday replaced one about charity donations, while his photo replaced a safety score box. This unique honor was given most likely as a testament to Louis Kaplan's many years of service at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where he was employed from 1912 to 1956.
