Description
Veronica Marino-Kieffer (ca. 1920- ) worked at Sperry Gyroscope in Brooklyn with drill presses and gyroscopes. After Sperry moved to Long Island, Kieffer began working at the Navy Yard. While working at the Navy Yard, Veronica Marino-Kieffer (ca. 1920- ) lived in Sheepshead Bay. During her interview, she discusses her relationships with the other workers and her supervisors, her work cleaning and repairing binoculars, her Italian background, her family and the work she did before coming to the Navy Yard. In one instance, Kieffer was sent home for not wearing her hat while working on a drill press because of the danger of getting her hair caught in the machine.
