- Beatrice Mobley, nee Lawson, was born 6/24/1926 near Savannah, Georgia, the third oldest of five children. In 1945, when she was 19 years old, she traveled with her friend Lillie Mae Conyers (sp?) to New York City. She got a job working in the kitchen of the Naval Hospital at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and remained employed there for over a year. She later returned to Georgia to be with her family.
