Administrative/Biographical History
Luigi (Lou) Fumo was a Mechanics Apprentice at the Brooklyn Navy Yard from 1952-1956, and graduated with a certificate as a Machinist. He then worked as a machinist and tool maker at the Navy Yard until the early 1960s, when he left to pursue teaching.
Scope and Content
This collection contains items collected by Fumo, as well as materials created or used by Fumo during his time at the Navy Yard. This includes commemorative mementos for ship launchings from the 1940s to the 1960s, his apprentice certificate and pin, machinist tools, instructional and membership booklets, and a bracelet and pendant with Fumo’s name.
