Administrative/Biographical History
Mary Panzer was employed by the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation from 2008 to 2009 to conduct research in the early phases of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Center at BLDG 92’s development.
Scope and Content
These papers were compiled during this period to provide exhibition content and visual resources for BLDG 92’s permanent exhibition space.
System of Arrangement
There are five series in this collection, which have been arranged by the archivist to improve access. Where available, Panzer’s original folder titles were maintained. Series I, Subject – Chronological, is arranged so that the topics are listed in roughly date order. Series II, Subject – General, consists of topics too broad to be connected to a particular era, and are therefore arranged alphabetically by folder title. Series III, Exhibition Development – Research Support, consists of maps, plans, image files, finding aids, bibliographies, and similar externally generated materials that were collected or created to support Panzer’s research. Series IV, Exhibition Development – Notes for Exhibits, is made up of materials generated by Panzer herself during the research process. Finally, Series VI, Exhibition Development – Early Conceptualization, is made up of notes, meeting agendas, concept files and visual assessments of similar institutions used to brainstorm the exhibition’s design and content.
